About this listing
Absolutely gorgeous antique ribbed biscuit barrel decorated with cobalt blue irises, a butterfly and ornate gilt scroll and acanthus decoration to the neck, with a blue gilded finialled ribbed lid and all over gilt sponging. According to http://potteryhistories.com/doulton%20backstamps.html the makers mark dates it to between 1891-1900. Has two chips on the rim hence the low reserve, which are made less obvious by the lid, but could be repaired. Also some wear to the gilding. Approx 19cm high and 16cm across at the widest Photos to follow.
