About this listing
A lovely display piece, this dessert spoon is hallmarked for London 1897 with the Lion Passant denoting Sterling silver - the makers mark is illegible. It's in a case that is of the period, if not original - it's labelled R & W Sorley (Robert & William Sorley), which was one of the largest and most influential historic jewelry and silversmith firms in Glasgow, Scotland. Founded in 1840, the business established a massive reputation for high-quality luxury items, high-end retail, and elite civic commissions. R & W Sorley does show up under London in my go to Silver hallmark website: https://www.silvermakersmarks.co.uk/Makers/London-RA-RD.html#R& so it quite possibly is the original case. Approx 16 cm long, bowl approx 6 x 3.5cm & weight approx 26 gms. Case is approx 20 x 6cm - a bit of rubbing here and there and a small nibble by the catch, commensurate with it's age and use. The blue velvet and satin interior is very good. NB: I am currently listing items on behalf, from my father's extensive antique collection - https://www.trademe.co.nz/MyTradeMe/Sell/Current.aspx Current items will include Satsuma, Cloisonne, Kutani - later there will be British and Continental items. **I do NOT offer to watchers, if you want it you will need to bid ** Contact within 3 days, payment within 5 unless by prior arrangement please ** Happy to send non breakable items overseas (please ask if you are unsure), otherwise NZ resident bidders only please. Having a clear out - check out my other listings, women's footwear and clothing, books, jewelry, antiques and collectibles. Happy to combine postage, but may require some additional postage if it greatly increases the size of the bag or box. **To avoid delays please send address through Trademe
