About this listing

This low, wide-set squat form—often referred to as a "squat potpourri" or "posy vase"—was designed specifically as a table centerpiece. Its low profile allowed Victorian dinner guests to easily see over it across a dining table. The flared, cream-colored collar features the exact type of lace-like piercing overseen by Alfred Barry. The body features vibrant, raised enamel floral painting with blue and coral-pink daisy-like flowers nestled among soft green foliage, bracketed by matte gilding along the borders. On the base there is the printed Grainger corporate shield mark with the letter D denoting 1894 - further indicating that this piece is from the Royal Worcester era. Thomas Grainger (who previously apprenticed at Robert Chamberlain’s rival Worcester factory) co-founded the firm in 1801. Following the death of Thomas's son, George Grainger, in 1889, the family sold the business to the Worcester Royal Porcelain Company (Royal Worcester). If fabulous condition for it's age. It stands approx 12cm high and 18cm across at it's highest/widest points.
